A Quick Sorry-Not Sorry
Posts have been few and far between lately and I take full responsibility, but in my defense there’s a lot going on. Landed an awesome job at a local country club (more on that in a forthcoming post), been hunting for a house, yada yada yada, so on and so forth. I won’t get into the weeds on that stuff HERE because to some – golf is about getting away from all of that.
So between old and new jobs, I left myself some time to really reset… and to squeeze in as many rounds as possible. We begin my week-long stretch of unemployment at another course close to home, but one I had not visited to date. Not even to one of the nearby houses…
COURSE: Bradford Country Club (Bradford, MA)
DATE-TEE TIME: June 27, 2017 – 10:50 AM
GROUPING: CaseyB, Shane, Steven
CONDITIONS: 90+ degrees and humid
STAKES: Highest score pays for carts next round
There are a bunch of blind shots at Bradford CC, so pick your spots wisely. Take full advantage of any technology you have handy, a GPS view of each hole would have been a good tool for this gloomy mid-day round. Right out of the gates there’s an almost-90 degree dogleg left, but I went driver on a hunch and needed a tree to help me find the fairway. I won that hole, but otherwise played ‘meh’ on the front-nine.
I enjoyed whipping around the neighborhood for the first nine, but as a New Hampshire boy, I will always favor the more wooded areas. You’ll have to decide whether or not to carry/layup with almost every shot, but it makes you think. While golf is in part a getaway, it’s also a puzzle unto itself as we’ve detailed in prior posts. Here’s a look around the back nine.
You definitely want to check out Bradford CC if you’re ever in the neighborhood, but you won’t always need to swing for the fences. And we were lucky to sneak this in before the rain really came in. Luckily the rest of my unemployment stretch was not as wet…
Until next time, GO LOW!
